After her husband’s diagnosis in 2015, Elly Contreras dedicated herself to understanding dementia and supporting others on this challenging journey. Fueled by her studies at the Wicking University of Tasmania in “Understanding Dementia” and “Preventing Dementia,” she is on a mission to raise awareness and create supportive communities.
Elly was born in The Netherlands and after 50 years in Canada is now a full-time resident of Lake Chapala, together with her husband Ramiro. She is currently an active member of the Rotary Club of Chapala Sunrise. Her most recent study was with “To Whom I may Concern”, an organization that gives a voice to dementia.
