There are few, if any real panaceas (remedies for all difficulties) in the world. However, using Melinda Gates’ “Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World” as his guide, (along with selections from several other publications), Dave Ellison will review the evidence demonstrating how educating women, giving them control over their bodies and their marriages (among other reforms) transforms whole societies, cultures, economies, environments… everything. And he’ll explain why it is appropriate for him, a man, to do so. Warning, some of the passages he reads will be heart-wrenching and graphic. This will be a difficult but ultimately uplifting presentation that will certainly generate much thoughtful discussion and, hopefully, action.
